    Keynote Address

    Tuesday, October 15th

    Warden Jeanne Woodford

"Crossing the Divide: Forging the Relationship Between Corrections and the Community"

The link between Corrections and the community is really a natural one. The majority of our inmates (90%) will be returning to the community. Better they return with the support of their family and their community than not. Community support in the bigger picture can reduce recidivism, saving our communities from further victimization. What does that really mean...

Jeanne Woodford began her career with the California Department of Corrections at San Quentin State Prison in 1978 as a correctional officer. Ms. Woodford promoted up through the ranks, holding a variety of management positions. She was appointed to the position of Warden on June 22, 2000. A graduate of Sonoma State University with a Bachelor¹s Degree in Criminal Justice, Ms. Woodford is active in the community as a member of the Marin County Peace Officers Association.

    Special Plenary Session

    Wednesday, October 17th

    Prison Chaplain Earl Smith

"The Faith-Based Community: An Intermediary Between Corrections and Public Health"

Many incarcerated men and women find their spiritual strength while on the inside. The faith-based community can play a significant role toward the continuation of such a spiritual connection for those inside and on the outside. This special plenary will address the important role the faith-based community can play in helping both service providers and their participants to complete a successful transition.
