    Help Dealing with a Family Member with Substance Abuse Issues:

    1. Al-Anon

    The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope, in order to solve their common problems. They believe alcoholism is a family illness, and that "changed attitudes" can aid recovery. Al-Anon has but one purpose: to help families of alcoholics.

    2. Alateen

    A fellowship of young Al-Anon members, usually teenagers, whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking.

    3. National PTA ­ Common Sense

    Provides strategies for raising alcohol and drug-free children. For links to get support on dealing with alcohol issues, check out their Help & Hotlines page.

    4. NCJRS Parenting Resources on Substance Abuse

    Provides links and facts on the topic of substance abuse for family members or children and drugs.

    5. Partnership for a Drug Free America

    Tools, resources, and information for teens, and parents or caregivers.

    6. Prevention Online

    From the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and SAMHSA. Links for how to prevent substance abuse or get information/ help for substance abuse for families and youth.

    7. Substance Abuse for Families Links from About.com

    Provides various links to help or give information to families of substance abusers. This site includes facts for families, help for children, information for/ on teen drinkers, drug treatment programs, counseling, etc.
