- Chowchilla Area Transit Express (CATX), (559) 665-8655
- This county does not have a regular public transit system. CATX is a demand response system or dial-a-ride system, where you have to call them for service.
- To get service to the prison, call them as soon as possible to let them know when you want to go to the prison to ensure that you get the service for that day. Their bus only goes to the prison ONCE a day (due to visiting hours set by the prison).
The prison bus schedule is ONCE daily,
from Thursdays to Sundays, between 12:30PM and 1:00PM.

Fares are $1.50/ adult.

- They have transportation vans that pick up from the Greyhound (Chowchilla) and Am Track (Merced) to CCWF. They only pick up from these two locations and drop off at these two locations.
Scheduled pick up hours from Greyhound (Chowchilla) are:

Saturdays and Sundays, 8:30AM
Scheduled pick up hours from the Am Track (Merced) are:
Thursdays and Fridays at 2:00PM;

Return trip hours vary so be sure to check with the driver when he/ she drops you off. However, the last return trip on
Thursdays and Fridays is at 7:45PM,
and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30PM.

- They do not charge for their service, but they do accept donations.

- The transportation van picks up from the bus stop near the 580 freeway only. They only drop off at this location as well.
- Call them when you are at the bus stop or close to getting off, and they will meet you there. It is not necessary to call 24 hours in advance.
